Netbooks

The invention of the laptop computer was a highly important innovation for allowing people to stay in touch whilst they travelled but it was clear that they were still too bulky and cumbersome for frequent use. As technology has evolved, the laptop computer has scaled down with notebooks providing an improvement on the laptop but even this has been superseded by the netbook, the ideal machine for people on the move. Whether it is to keep your social networking sites as up to date as possible or perhaps there is some vital work that must be done away from the office, the netbook is the ideal way to get online and stay in touch.

The first netbooks started appearing in 2007 and the evolution since then has been swift and dramatic. The first products in this range quite often had a screen size of 5” but more recent models have seen this expand up to 13”. This has made it much easier for people to use whilst on the move without feeling they are being compromised in their usage. Likewise, the early models featured a keypad that was greatly reduced from the standard option, with some keys missing or re-located but again, as the technology has improved, there has been a marked increase in the efficiency of the keyboards. Anyone comfortable with the standard sized Qwerty laptop should find themselves perfectly au-fait with the version supplied by the vast majority of netbooks available to buy today.

There is an interesting trade off required in netbooks because although they must be portable enough to allow any user to carry them around with them, they must be sturdy enough to withstand the knocks and bumps that are associated with portable use. Again, the style and functionality of these netbooks has greatly improved since the first products and any color imaginable is now available. Given the wide market demand for the portable benefits that these products offer; this versatility in style and function should ensure that the product is suitable for all.

This, as well as the budget benefits of using the netbook makes it a perfect lightweight machine to be used on the move or to introduce new users to the world of computing all of which ensures that netbooks are likely to continue to grow in popularity over the next few years.
