In the light of the economic crisis to which some of the greatest countries in the world, more people are becoming practical and opt to choose the netbook over other regular-sized fully enhanced laptops. Currently, there are thousands of netbook models coming from various manufacturers. One of the popular manufacturers is HP.
For HP netbooks, there are six models to choose from as of this writing. These are:
- Mini 110
- Studio Tord Boontje
- Mini 210
- Mini 201 Vivienne Tam
- Mini 311
- Mini 5102

For a single model, HP can have a hundred variations from the original model. For those who want to buy a netbook, HP netbook options give a lot of choices. Usually, due to a tight budget, most people would only prefer a netbook that can serve them well according to the applications they need to run. For instance, if the netbook will be used only for low-memory requirement applications, they would practically choose a 1-gig RAM with 160-gig hard drive, which is the lowest specification netbooks have today.
Originally, netbooks are created specifically for internet browsing. But as newer models are introduced, more and more features are crammed to fit the lightweight and smaller sized netbooks. As a result, there has been an on-going confusion between a notebook and a netbook. But for the consumer, the confusion doesn’t really matter as long as they can do what they needed to do with the mobile computer.
Performance and features aside, HP has also taken fashion and trendy options for those who want to carry stylish HP mini cases. Although the netbook is already a fashion statement, it is now accentuated with a “bolder” fashion statement by integrating the name of one of popular fashion clothes designer such as Vivienne Tam and interior designer Tord Boontje. But along with the stylish design, these designer netbooks are far cry from other netbooks having a loaded functionality. The buyer has the option to upgrade the netbook or leave it the way it is. And for the record, if you want an upgrade, of course you have to spend extra. For instance, if you want to upgrade the batteries into a 6-cell pack, you must add at least $25.00. For every upgrade, there is an additional cost.
In terms of the operating system, HP netbook options offer two of the most popular OS platform today: Windows 7 and Linux. But most models support Windows 7. These operating systems are sold separately and if you want to have one of them, you must add at least $40.00 (for licensed Windows 7)
As for the casing, HP is probably one of the sturdiest-built and most dependable around. It’s no wonder that some have shifted from Mac to HP because of these qualities, not only for netbooks, but for all HP computing devices.
In general HP netbooks are more expensive, but it’s a worthy buy. After all, it’s profitable to invest in a sturdy and dependable machine yet expensive rather than low-cost netbooks that can cause headaches after several months of use.
